Comments are how your team has conversations about the content without changing it. Attach a threaded discussion to any block — a paragraph, a code sample, an image — to ask a question, flag an issue, or explain a decision, all without leaving the editor.
Where comments live
Comments appear in two places, always in sync:
- In the margin — a marker sits next to any block that has an open thread. Click it to open the thread.
- In the comments panel — the right-hand panel lists every thread on the page. Open it from the Comments button in the top bar (it shows a count of open threads).
Adding a comment
Hover the block in the canvas and click its comment handle, or open the block's menu and choose to add a comment. The block is highlighted so everyone can see exactly what the thread refers to.
Type your message in the composer (placeholder: Add a comment… (@ to mention)).
Click Comment. The thread appears in the margin and in the comments panel.
You can also leave a page-level comment that isn't tied to a specific block — useful for overall feedback — from the comments panel.
Mentions
Type @ and start typing a teammate's name to open the mention dropdown, which lists matching members with their role. Pick someone to insert the mention; they're notified with a direct link to the thread.
@maria can you confirm the rate limit is 100 req/min or 1000?Use mentions to pull the right person into a decision instead of waiting for them to stumble across the thread.
Threads and replies
Each comment starts a thread. Anyone with access to the page can reply, building the conversation in context so you never lose the history of why a decision was made.
- Replies are listed under the original comment.
- A thread stays attached to its block as you edit around it.
Resolving comments
When a comment's issue is addressed, Resolve the thread:
- Click Resolve on the thread. It collapses and the block's margin marker clears.
- Resolved threads aren't deleted — toggle show resolved in the panel to see them again, and reopen any thread if the discussion needs to continue.
Comments and the review workflow
During a review, reviewers often leave comments to explain what needs to change, then choose Request changes (with a note) to send the page back to draft. Authors addressing the feedback can resolve each comment as they fix it, giving the reviewer a clear checklist on the next pass.
Notifications
You're notified about comment activity when:
- Someone
@-mentions you. - Someone replies to a thread you started or participated in.
Manage how these notifications reach you in your personal notification settings.
